Telespazio VEGA and its partners, Air & Space Evidence, recently held a very successful waste management workshop with environmental regulators and law enforcement agencies in Brussels.
As part of an ESA IAP contract award to Telespazio, the workshop focused on gauging stakeholder feedback on new Earth Observation based services for combating increasing levels of waste crime in Europe and globally. The services are targeted at high value waste stream tracking and illegal landfill.
The workshop was attended by representatives from 10 countries, each with different nuances, but all with a strong desire to implement more intelligence-led, cost-effective and legally enforceable activities to counter the growing threat of organised criminal groups and the environmental blight and economic burden they bring.
